NGC 6181. - Burbidge et al. (1965a) have found a "hump" in the rotation curve about 8" SE of the nucleus in position angle 153°. This region (designated Region A by them) does not appear to have strong H; the velocities were obtained principally for 3727, H, and H. Region A is clearly seen as a bright blue region inside the primary dust lane but is not noticeable in the H photograph. Burbidge et al's. (1965a) spectra taken in other position angles confirm the identification of the HII regions plotted in the drawing.
