NGC 7177. - The central regions of this galaxy are similar to NGC 175, classified by Sandage (1961) as SBa(s). The "bar" of NGC 7177 is oriented in a nearly north-south direction while the major axis defined by the fainter outer spiral is nearly east-west. The Halpha photograph has several emission regions in the southern part of the central region near the end of the inner bar. Several fainter HII regions are detected in the outer arm segment of the galaxy. Because of the low surface brightness of the outer tightly wound spiral segments, dust is very difficult to identify in this region.
