NGC 6503. - This object has been studied by Burbidge et al. (1964) who reported the presence of widespread emission lines of fairly even intensity with no nuclear concentration. These authors conclude that NGC 6503 is a dwarf Sc of unusually low mass. Another unusual feature is that the velocity curve appears to be symmetric about a point 10" from the brightest part of the galaxy and coincident with a region of heavy obscuration. The object is similar to NGC 972.
