Abstract. This series of lectures is devoted to optical and UV data, with particular emphasis on observations obtained by the Hubble Space Telescope (HST). We explore the instruments on board the HST which have taken data since the telescope was launched and the instruments which will continue to observe in the future. The contents of the HST Data Archive are discussed, along with information on how to retrieve and understand HST observations which can be found in the archives. Other optical and UV archives are also briefly discussed.
